I can't believe we made it through the first week already! And also that Saturday, day one of my weekend, is already finished! Yikes! Luckily my IWU class today consisted mostly of a Dr. Seuss magic show.
Well, I'm really excited at how well school is going so far. Besides the fact that the average temp in my classroom is 90 degrees, things are really great. We are beginning to create a community and starting to work on the "Steininger Essential 36", a set of rules that I stole from Ron Clark. So far, I have taught them to use "Yes, ma'am" and "No, ma'am", not to roll their eyes or smack their lips, and to always say thank you within 3 seconds of receiving something. Other than that we are busy on ISTEP+ prep.
I celebrated the first Friday after school started by having a Gilmore Girls marathon with Gabrielle (and Alaya)...until we all fell asleep. It must have been a hard week!
Well, I'm sure my posts will be getting fewer and fewer as things get rolling. This week is Back to School Night, after school tutoring, etc. All fun activities will be temporarily put on hold as normal life begins again. Thank goodness next weekend is a 3-day holiday weekend!
